Bruin Baseball Post-Season Ends Against Tigers

The BHHS Bruin boys varsity baseball team was on the road Monday after qualifying for first round post-season play, making the almost 6 hour 300 mile trip to Yamhill to challenge the 14-10 Yamhill-Carlton Tigers.

Tiger pitching shut out the Bruin bats in the top of the first to start the game before Yamhill-Carlton jumped all over Bruin pitching in the bottom of the half, pushing four runs across the plate in the bottom of the first, to take a 0-4 lead.

Bruin bats never really found their way early in the game as the Bruins only sent eleven batters to the plate in the first three innings of play as the Tigers found a way to score six times in the first three innings.

In the fourth, both teams held their ground, shutting out each others offense in the fourth and fifth innings sending the game into the sixth with the Bruins trailing 0-6.

Knowing their offensive opportunities were running out in the late innings, the Bruins rallied in the top of the sixth, sending eight batters to the plate and pushing two runners across the plate to cut the Tigers lead to 2-6.

However, Yamhill-Carlton answered offensively in the bottom of the sixth, putting up two runs of their own before shutting down the Bruin offense in the top of the seventh, to end the Bruins post-season, and takethe 2-8 win.

“We are all very proud of these guys and what they were able to accomplish. Unfortunately it just wasn’t our day.” coach Wallin said after the game. “Special thanks to our seniors who will go on to bigger and brighter things. Hopefully this is a place they can always look back on as special to them.”
