Bar Disagreement Leads to Arrest for Attempted Murder

Officers from the Medford Police Department were dispatched to a parking lot on Biddle Road regarding reports that a shooting had just occurred just after 7:30pm, Sunday evening, February 6th.  

The suspect was no longer on scene when officers arrived, and investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect, who were not previously known to other, were inside Purple Parrot, when they became involved in a verbal disagreement, and the victim left.  

As the victim was preparing to leave in his vehicle, a vehicle parked behind him, and the victim noticed a laser light being shined on him. The victim reportedly ducked just as a bullet struck a glass window near his head, and was treated on scene by first responders for minor cuts from the glass, and later sought further medical attention on his own.

Detectives determined the suspect was 53 year old Foy Chandler, who was currently wanted on a federal warrant for parole violation. Detectives were joined by United States Marshals who had already been looking for Chandler.

Detectives received information the suspect was at a residence on Rivers Edge Road, in Gold Hill. Due to Chandler’s criminal history and the crime in question, the Jackson County Sheriffs SWAT team was summoned to assist and subsequently at about 1:00pm, Chandler surrendered to deputies on multiple charges including Attempted Murder, 1st Degree Attempted Assault, Unlawful Use of a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.   courtesy of the Jackson County Sheriffs Office.
