On Tuesday, June 16th, detectives with multiple agencies, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Basin Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team, and Oregon State Police, forming the Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team, served a search warrant at a black-market cannabis grow in rural Central Point.
During the search warrant investigation, approximately 25,000 marijuana plants hidden in pear orchards, 16,000 lbs. of usable cannabis, and 1,470 plants in five “hoop-style” greenhouses were seized detectives.

There was no licensing for any type of cannabis growing, handling, or processing at this location. The farm applied for an Oregon Department of Agriculture license for growing hemp and concealed cannabis starter plants in the pear orchard.
One suspect, identified as 35 year old Jorge Alexander Ruiz, was arrested in connection to the property, and is being charged with three felony counts of unlawful production, manufacture, and possession of a marijuana item.
