Bruin Boys Battle Back Late to Topple Bandon

Senior right-hander, Talan Pryor, #2, took the mound Tuesday for the Bruins, going 3-1/3 innings striking out 8.

Head coach Keith Wallin and the Bruin boys varsity baseball team took on the Bandon Tigers who made the trip down the coast Tuesday afternoon as both teams look to finish strong with the end of their 2025 seasons on the horizon.

Coach Wallin sent senior right-hander, Talan Pryor, #2, to the mound to start what would be a marathon game full of big plays, controversial calls and plenty of runs as both teams used their strengths in a back and forth battle to secure the win.

Sophomore, Owen Austin, #10, with the catch in deep left field.

Bandon would start the scoring in the first inning with a towering wind aided homerun to left field, lighting up the Tiger bench and setting the pace of the afternoons action. But the Bruins would answer, with a little ‘pace’ of their own, pushing three runs across the plate to take a 3-1 lead after one.

Junior Isaac Hughs, #16, went 2 for 3 at the plate with 3 RBI.

In the second, Bandon would work another runner around the bases to score another run, but timely Bruin hitting in the bottom of the second would result in two more Bruin runs and a 5-2 lead.

Junior, Sam Brouillard, making the throw from 3rd base.

The Tigers bats came alive in the third, sending nine batters to the plate in the top half of the inning, moving four runners around the bags and across the plate before shutting down the Bruin offense in the bottom of the inning and taking a 5-6 lead.

Freshman, Brody Bavaro, #27, applying the tag on the pick-off play at 1st base.

Now trailing, the Bruins held the Tigers scoreless in the top of the fourth, before returning the favor and sending nine batters to the plate in the bottom half of the inning and putting four runs on the board to establish a 9-6 lead after four.

Sophomore Aiden Holmes, #5, digging out the grounder at shortstop.

But the Tigers weren’t quite done, again stringing hits together for another four runs in the fifth before shutting down Bruin bats in bottom half of the fifth to take a 9-10 lead going into the sixth inning.

Both teams would fail to add any runs in the sixth inning sending the game into the final inning with the Bruins trailing by one. Bandon would not score in the top of the seventh and the middle of the order for the Bruins would take full advantage, putting runners in scoring position and pushing two runs across the plate to take the walk off 11-10 win.
