The Bruin boys varsity basketball team hosted the 2-7 North Valley Knights Tuesday evening, and both teams came out swinging.

The Bruin boys jumped out to an early 10-4 lead, but the Knights would battle back, with tough play in the paint, slowing the Bruins scoring opportunities. The Knights would go on 12 point run to close out the first period while holding the Bruins to just 4 points, to take a 14-16 North Valley lead after the first period.

The Bruins responded early in the second period with 9 points while holding the Knights to just 5 points early to hold on to a 23-21 lead midway through the second period. Both teams traded baskets late in the period as the Knights put up 7 more points, only to see the Bruins add 8 points to take a 31-28 lead at the half.

But North Valley made adjustments at the half that would get them a 34-36 lead midway through the third that they would not give up as they went on to put up 26 points in the third as the Bruin shooting went cold putting up only 9 points in the period as North Valley established a 14 point 40-54 lead at the end of three.

Bruin shooting could not find the bottom of the basket as they fought to get back into the game late, but the Knights continued the physical play down low, allowing no easy baskets in the paint. Turnovers and missed opportunities plagued the Bruins as time ran down, but the North Valley lead was just too much to overcome as the Knights took home the 59-47 win.
