After going 5-1 in regular season play, head coach John Silviera and his varsity boys soccer team earned their way into post season play after a four league game win streak to end regular season play, making their strong post-season performance against the Delphian Dragons the Les Schwab “Game of the Week”.

The #26 OSAA ranked Bruins, now missing their starting keeper, senior, RJ Hendrix, after suffering an injury, earned an over 5 hour road trip to Sheridan, Oregon, to take on the #16 ranked Delphian Dragons, coming into the contest after winning their league play-off against the #24 ranked Taft Tigers, 2-1.

Heavy rain pounded the region Friday evening, however, a dry mostly sunny day unfolded as the game progressed as both teams struggled to establish control on the wet artificial turf footing early on.
Ten minutes into the first half of play, the Dragons earned a corner-kick that they would convert off the header in the goal box, taking an early 0-1 lead.

Now trailing, the Bruins were forced to take chances and pressure offensively and defend the Dragons offensive pressure, stretching the field, creating open spaces that Delphine would take advantage of, getting into the Bruin penalty box and drawing a hand-ball foul against the Bruins, resulting in a penalty kick the Dragons would convert to take a 0-2 lead at the twenty minute mark of the first half.

The Bruins adjusted to start the second half, taking a much more aggressive game plan, creating offensive opportunities from strong defense. But this comes with risk, opening up offensive attack opportunities for the Dragons.
Delphine would work their way into scoring position once again, scoring early in the second half, extending their lead to 0-3 to take control of the game.

The Bruins would continue to battle, working into the Dragons penalty box and forcing a hand-ball foul that senior, Hunter Wilson, #12 would put in the net for the Bruins only score, and final 1-3 score, ending the Bruins 2025 season.

“It was a great fight.” coach Silviera said after the game. “We had a few breakaways and shots that just didn’t go in the net. Today just wasn’t our day”.
