Head coach Tony Baron and his BHHS varsity girls softball team played their way into post-season play and were awarded a home game against the 10-13 Santiam-Christian Lady Eagles who made the trip to the coast from Adair Village, north of Corvallis, Monday afternoon.

Coach Baron sent right-handed pitcher, sophomore Emmy Armstrong to the circle for the Bruin girls, and she promptly shut the Lady Eagles offense down holding them scoreless to start the game.

The big bats showed up for the Bruin girls Monday afternoon, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom half of the first.

The Lady Eagles struggled at the plate as Armstrong took control of the game, holding Santiam Christian scoreless for three innings as the Bruin girls offense put up crooked numbers in every inning.

The Bruin girls offense put multiple runners on the basepaths in every inning, hitting four homeruns in the game, three out of the park and one in the park as they racked up 18 points in four innings at bat.

The Lady Eagles worked a runner into scoring position in the top of the fourth for their only run in the game as Armstrong had a shut down inning in the top of the fifth to take the 18-1 round one play-off game.

The Bruin girls now move on to second round play on the road traveling to Dayton, just east of McMinnville, Wednesday, with first pitch scheduled for 4:00pm
