Coming off their first and only defeat this season in Medford against the 9-0 St. Mary’s Lady Crusaders, the Bruin girls had something to prove Tuesday afternoon against the South Umpqua Lady Lancers.
The Bruin girls wasted no time slicing up the Lady Lancer defense, scoring in the first 3:00 minutes of play on a #24, Kaiya Evans break away down the right sideline that would find the goal to start the Bruin girls onslaught.

And like sharks to blood in the water, the Bruin girls ruthlessly attacked, setting up junior center half back, #11, Ellie Hanneman, who took the pass from sophomore striker, Sawyer Adams, #12, and buried the shot from the top of the penalty box, scoring again just 9:00 minutes into the first half.

Not to be out done, Kaiya Evans found Sawyer Adams, #12, open in front of the South Umpqua goal, who took the pass and scored from the center of the South Umpqua goal box.

And just like that, it was 3-0 Bruin girls, just 10:00 minutes into the game as a driven Bruin girls team dominated every aspect of the contest, with the Bruin girls defense pushing away any Lady Lancer attacks and then immediately initiating the Bruin girls attack.

#12, Sawyer Adams found the goal once again just seconds later, driving through the midfield and shooting from the top of the penalty box to give the Bruin girls a 4-0 lead. Ellie Hanneman, #11, would follow Adams goal with a goal of her own, again driving through the Lady Lancer defense before winding up from the top of the box and scoring from 22 yards out.

Special teams were working for the Bruin girls also, scoring on a corner kick after freshman Iris Powers-Schmitz used her head to complete a pass to senior #8 Lexi Newman who would finish the Bruin girls scoring in the first half, and taking a 6-0 lead into the half time break.

The second half was much of the same, with sophomore, #14 Ella Christensen, dribbling across the face of the South Umpqua goal and finding the back of the net for another Bruin girls score and 7-0 lead, The Bruin girls would add one more goal to end the game with another 8-0 shut out.
The Bruin girls will be on the road this Thursday, making the over 3 hour trip to Sutherlin to challenge a 3-4-3 Sutherlin Lady Bulldog team, with kick-off scheduled for 4:45pm.
