Bruins Cross-Country Finishes Strong at the Brookings Invite at Salmon Run

Head coach Jason Fulton and the Brookings-Harbor Bruins cross-country team held the Brookings Invite at Salmon Run Wednesday, September 4rd, at Salmon Run Golf Course giving us the first official league results to start the 2025/26 high school sports season.

Senior, Owen Strasser, completed the course first, finishing in first place with a time of 20:40.

Bruins cross-country has now held the Brookings Invite at Salmon Run for it’s fourth straight year, hosting the North Valley Knights at the Salmon Run Golf Course 5000m racecourse.

In the girls division, senior, Oceana Powers-Schmitz finished first for the Bruins, completing the course in 26:47.

Under pleasant temperatures and a sunny Wednesday afternoon sky the cross-country season opener commenced on the 5,000 meter course that meanders through trees and open spaces along the front nine holes of Salmon Run Golf Course.

The Bruins senior, Patrick Hatch, finished the course second for the Bruins, taking second overall with a time of 23:03.

Bruin girls runner, sophomore, Danika Camp, finished the course second for the Bruins with a time of 27:16 placing third overall.

Senior, Alexander Justman, finished the course third for the Bruins, placing fifth overall in a time of 24:02.

Freshman, Aubrey Harlan completed the course third for the Brookings-Harbor Bruin girls, finishing with a time of 27:57, fourth overall.

Junior, Franky Abers, fourth for the Bruin boys and seventh overall with a time of 25:41.

Finishing fourth for the Bruin girls is senior, Sierra Stout, completing the course in 36:20, placing her 5th overall.

Freshman, Austin Hatch, finished fifth for the Bruin boys, with a time of 26:14, putting him eighth overall.

Sophomore, Sebastian King, was the sixth Bruin boy to finish the course, completing the course in 30:15, and tenth overall.

Coach Fulton sent four girls to the starting line for Brookings-Harbor, however, it would be North Valley junior Coco Gartoff who would dominate the field, finishing the course in 25:35, to take first place for the Lady Knights.

“I was very proud of the way the kids ran.” coach Fulton said after the meet. “They have really been pushing at practice, and are ready to run. Our next meet is the Cave Man Classic in Grants Pass on Saturday, September 13th.
