Late Thursday evening, December 11th, the Crescent City Police Department, along with members of the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, assisted a Deputy with United States Marshall’s in the locating of a wanted person from Washington just after 8:00pm.
The fugitive, identified as 33 year old Joseph Gopher, was wanted for First Degree Rape of a Child, and several counts of First Degree Child Molestation out of Washington State.
Gopher was located by authorities while staying at a hotel on L Street in Crescent City and attempted to barricade the door to prevent officers from arresting him after making initial contact.
Authorities then forced entry into the hotel room and Gopher was arrested without further incident for his outstanding warrant.
Crescent City Police Officers also located metal knuckles and a stolen motorcycle in the possession of Gopher during a search and Gopher was additionally charged for possession of these items.
Gopher was transported and booked at the Del Norte County Jail.
