After being arrested by U.S. Marshals on Curry County warrants on Tuesday, December 9th, a fugitive, identified as 45 year old Glenn Allen Burkhow, escaped custody after fleeing from a Curry County Sheriff’s Deputy at Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach.
On Saturday December 13th, Burkhow had been transported to Curry General Hospital earlier in the day for a suspected medical issue at approximately 3:00pm, and after being cleared to return to jail, he took off running.

Multiple agencies, including Sheriff’s Deputies, Gold Beach Police, Port Orford Police, Brookings Police and the Oregon State Police were all involved in searching for Burkhow.
Burkhow, wearing jail issued orange clothing with no shoes, remained at large for more than 5 hours after running into heavy brushy areas.
While out patrolling at 8:11pm, Sheriff Ward located Burkhow on 11th Street in Gold Beach. Burkhow took off running again and Sheriff called for a cover unit.
Gold Beach Police arrived and assisted in apprehending Burkhow in heavy brush behind a residence off 11th Street. An ambulance was requested along with the Gold Beach Fire Department to get Burkhow back out of the brushy area.
Burkhow was transported by ambulance to Curry General Hospital, was medically cleared, and was returned to the custody of the Curry County Jail.
