As the 2024/25 school year begins to wind down, the latest installment of the Barron’s Home Furnishings ‘Star Student Athlete’ has been selected as the school year begins to come to an end. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.

This weeks selection is Isaac Hughs, a two sport athlete who plays varsity football for coach Bavaro in the winter who is now a two year member of the Bruins varsity boys baseball team, and chosen by head coach Keith Wallin for his growth, leadership and consistency throughout his career as a utility player for the Bruins.

“Isaac is an amazing young man who shows up with a great attitude every day.” coach Wallin told the Compass . “I strive to show up to whatever I do and work hard to get better.” Isaac said. “Playing baseball this year has been great with the team. We’ve gone through some rough patches, but I believe that has brought us closer together”.

While playing two varsity sports and Isaac also manages a 3.0 cumulative GPA in multiple college prep classes including, Business II, US History, Recreational Games & Sports, Business Mathematics w/Algebra, Language Arts III, Weight Training II and Marine Science.

I look forward to hopefully playing baseball at the next level and possibly pursuing a career in welding and have been taking welding classes every year to put myself on track to college or trade school.

“Isaac is always willing to do whatever it takes to get better, and is never content with where he’s at. He leads on and off the field and is a constant in a sport of chaos. – Head coach Kieth Wallin.
Congratulations Isaac, we are confident that you will continue to be successful in any endeavor you should choose to pursue.
Special thanks to corporate sponsor Barron’s Home Furnishings who make this recognition possible.
