A large earthquake struck early Saturday afternoon followed by a swarm of over twenty aftershocks that continued into Saturday evening.
At approximately 12:40pm, Saturday afternoon, a 7.0 magnitude quake rattled the Pacific Northwest near the Yakutat Peninsula of Alaska and the US-Canadian border.

The tremor was followed by more than twenty aftershocks beginning almost immediately after the initial 7.0 quake and ranging from 2.8 to over 5.0 until late Saturday evening.
No major damages or injuries were reported and no Tsunami or Tsunami warnings were generated regarding this quake.
