In an incident unrelated to the Wednesday evening shooting in Crescent City, a male subject arrived at Sutter Coast Hospital with a gun shot wound Thursday evening, May 29th. This individual communicated to authorities that he would cooperate with the investigation and desired prosecution against the person who shot him.
He was not able to give much more information at that time and has since been transferred to an out of area hospital.
During the subsequent investigation, the victim’s companion, Kodi Downs, admitted to being in possession of the shot gun. The shotgun was found in her vehicle in Sutter Coast Hospital’s parking lot along with ammunition.
Downs provided a statement to law enforcement and has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) and possession of a controlled substance.
