According to the latest updates as of Sunday evening, October 12th, the Moon Complex, consisting of six fires located in Coos & Curry Counties which are part of a September 3rd, lightning event in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest approximately 11 miles northeast of Agness, Oregon, has now consumed 19,549 total acres.
There has been no measurable growth of the fire for several days after cool wet weather moved into the area over the weekend and now stands at 20% containment, increasing to nearly one third of the perimeter, including stretches of fire line directly adjacent river lodges that have been secured.

Firefighters addressed areas of persistent heat in the Shasta Costa Creek drainage, using aerial reconnaissance for infrared detection and helicopter water drops on detected heat. Work will generally shift to fire line repair to prepare ground disturbed by firefighting for heavy rain.

Crews continue to make progress strengthening fire line in other areas and completing mop up. Firefighters are focused on repairing fire line, completing work around structures in the river corridor, and repairing roads. This repair work is essential to prevent sediment impacting water quality and fish spawning beds. As this work continues, containment is expected to steadily increase in the coming days.
Crews continue to remove firefighting equipment from work sites along the Rogue River corridor and complete repair work on fire lines.

In anticipation of a continued period of very wet and cold weather continuing to start the week, firefighters continue to remove firefighting equipment from work sites along the Rogue River corridor while retrieving equipment and completing work on areas that will soon become too wet and muddy to access.
An emergency area, road and trail closure is in place on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest for the fire. The Rogue River Trail remains closed from Marial to Foster Bar. The Forest Service has temporarily suspended motorboat traffic upstream of Foster Bar boat ramp. Lodge owners and private cabin owners may travel upstream for ingress and egress purposes to their private property/businesses.
