According to a Monday, December 1st press release, early Thursday evening, November 27th, multiple agencies including Crescent City Fire & Rescue, Ft. Dick Fire Protection District, CAL Fire, Pacific Power and Del Norte County Sheriffs deputies, responded to a reported structure fire near the 100 block of Mobile Lane and Wonder Stump Road.
The initial 911 call described flames visible on the back side of a shop building, and upon arrival fire crews found a pole-barn style shop, approximately 40 by 30 feet in size, heavily involved with fire.
Wonderstump Road was temporarily closed with the assistance of local law enforcement for responder safety and fire operations.
Significant interior contents forced crews to transition to a defensive strategy after firefighters initiated an aggressive attack using handlines from both engines, before a water tender shuttle operation, supported by Ft. Dick Fire and Crescent City Fire & Rescue was established.
Due to the large volume of tools, furniture, and equipment stored inside, the incident required extensive overhaul operations while Pacific Power responded to secure the utilities.
No injuries were reported.
