At approximately 2:30pm, Friday afternoon, January 2nd, multiple agencies including the Arcata Fire Department, Humboldt Bay, Rio Dell, Loleta, and Fortuna Fire Departments, responded to reports of a fully involved commercial structure fire on 10th Street in downtown Arcata.
According to Arcata City officials, the blaze started near the Ace Hardware building and quickly spread to multiple structures, including residences and local businesses such as Dandar’s Boardgames and Books, Northtown Books.
At approximately 5:30pm, the city of Arcata posted that the fire had been contained, and officials have also reported no injuries or fatalities.
