After being closed for more than 40 hours over this last weekend due to construction to repair a 24-inch failing culvert requiring the full closure of U.S. 101 for one weekend, starting at 9 p.m. on Friday night, September 19th, the Oregon Department of Transportation has announced that Hwy.101 has been re-opened as of Sunday, September 21st.

Although the highway has reopened, it will remain limited to a single lane through the work zone for the next two to three weeks. During this time, contractors will complete paving and striping work and flaggers will be on site providing traffic control, and drivers should expect delays.

The emergency $1.25 million project is expected to be completed by mid-October. The original 24-inch culvert failed during a storm last December.
