Tale of Two Games for Bruin Girls, Splitting Thursday’s Double-Header

Right-Handed pitcher, Emmy Armstrong, #10

Bruin girls softball was home Thursday, hosting Hidden Valley Lady Knights in an afternoon double header to complete the three game series.

Senior Kami Koepnick, #7, with the 2 run homer in the first game.

The Bruin girls were at Hidden Valley earlier in the week, bringing home a convincing 8-2 win to start the series and used the momentum of that game to take an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

Junior, Siena Petersen, #2, with the tag to get the runner at second attempting to steal.

The Lady Knights would string together some hits in the third crossing one runner across the plate before the Bruin girls would score again to keep their two run lead.

Senior, #4, Dani Dotson, with the single up the middle.

Trailing 3-1, Hidden Valley would come out in the fourth inning and capitalize on some fortunate hits by scoring another runner to close the gap to one.

Sophomore, Lexi Peters, #1, with the catch in left center.
Freshman, Sierra Weaver, #25, making the play at second base.

But the Bruin girls would answer again, scoring in their half of the fifth, extending their lead to 4-2 before holding the Lady Knights scoreless to close out the first game and take the 4-2 win.

Junior, Sahara Sankoh, #14, with the base hit.

In the second game, the Lady Knights bats woke up, taking an early lead and not looking back, while holding the Bruin girls to just four points in the game and running away with a 4-18 win to close out the series.

Sophomore, Annika Steendahl, #8, making the running catch in shallow right field.

The Bruin girls will be on the road next week, traveling to North Valley High School to take on the Lakeview Lady Honkers in an afternoon double header with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00pm.
