Del Norte County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Saturday, July 5th, to the south beach area in southern Crescent City, regarding reports of a female swimmer in distress.
Upon arrival, it was determined that there were two juveniles in the water, out beyond the break.
Local citizens on surf boards were able to make it out to the juveniles and position them on their boards as deputies equipped with ropes waded into the surf and successfully retrieved the juveniles and surfers from the wave break that was holding them from coming into shore on their own.
The juveniles were turned over to emergency medical services on scene.
