On Saturday night, April 26th, an aircrew from U.S. Coast Guard Station Humboldt Bay was dispatched to assist an injured boater just south of Crescent City.
Upon arrival the aircrew, 10-foot waves, and 30-knot winds in dark conditions were observed by the helicopter aircrew.
Due to the patient’s condition, time was critical, and the injured boater was hoisted to safety and medically evacuated from the recreational vessel less than 5 miles south of Crescent City.
After being medically evacuated, the injured boater was transferred to Emergency Medical Services staged at the Crescent City Airport.
