U.S. Coast Guard Rescues Injured Mariner South of Crescent City

On Thursday morning, January 22nd, an air crew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay was dispatched to reports of an injured mariner on a commercial fishing vessel off the coast south of Crescent City.

The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew left the air station just after 8:00am Thursday morning to reports that a mariner had suffered an eye injury, locating the commercial fishing vessel Viking, a short time later, approximately 10 miles south of Crescent City.

After the rescue swimmer was lowered to vessel, the mariners injury was stabilized and prepared for the medevac procedure and a basket hoist was conducted, loading the injured mariner into the helicopter before being transported to awaiting emergency medical service personnel at Air Station Humboldt Bay.
