Woman Arrested after Crashing into School bus

Early Tuesday morning, May 20th, multiple 9-1-1 calls flooded North Coos Dispatch, reporting a collision at the intersection of Grinnell Lane and Saddler Road in Coos Bay.

According to reports, a silver vehicle, driven by 38-year-old Amanda Vancannon, had crashed into a school bus.

Coos County Deputies arrived at the scene and spoke with everyone involved.

The school bus, stopped to pick up a fourth juvenile passenger, had three young passengers and the driver on board. Vancannon, traveling at high speed on a residential street, lost control of her vehicle, leading to the collision.

Observing signs of impairment, a Standardized Field Sobriety Tests was conducted on Vancannon. With assistance from Oregon State Police, the investigation continued at the Coos Bay Police Department, where Vancannon was taken into custody.

Vancannon was transported to the Coos County Jail and remains in custody on multiple charges of Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants-Controlled Substance, Reckless Driving, four counts of Reckless Endangering, and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.
