Man Seriously Injured in Marijuana Extract Explosion

On Friday, January 26th, the Rogue Area Drug Enforcement Team and Rural Metro Fire were dispatched to an explosion on a cannabis grow site in the 500 blk of West Pickett Creek Rd.

Firefighters and law enforcement officers converged on the scene and found a metal shipping container that had been significantly damaged by an explosion that appeared to be caused by activities performed inside. Minimal fire was found during overhaul operations.

Preliminary investigation revealed that 22-year-old Alec Kenneth Creasey was illegally producing the marijuana extract, Butane Honey Oil (BHO), inside a large shipping container.

The subsequent extraction process produced an explosion and fire that seriously injured Mr. Creasey, who was transported via private vehicle to Three Rivers Medical Center. Creasey was treated for burns and then was flown to OHSU where he remains in critical condition.

An Oregon State Police investigation is ongoing and anyone with information or questions is asked to call 541-955-6379.
