The joint Rural Metro Fire/American Medical Response Remote Rescue Teams deployed on the Milepost 97 Fire, have already been involved in the extraction and treatment of 3 wildland firefighters over the weekend.

The deployment of these two teams (teams that rescue other firefighters)) is necessary due to the steep and rugged terrain this fire is moving through.

Shortly after midnight Sunday morning, there was an incident involving a firefighter being struck by rolling debris. The firefighter was evaluated, extricated, and treated on scene and transported by air to Rogue Valley Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. The firefighter was released Monday morning.
