BHSD Continues to Plan for Multiple Methods of Instruction

On Tuesday, Oregon Governor Kate Brown announced a new set of metrics that will determine when schools can safely reopen their buildings to return to in-person learning.

The key metrics are based on BOTH state-level infection and positive test rates as well as local county-level infection and positive test rates. The target metrics need to be achieved for three consecutive weeks state-wide AND within Curry County.

At the local level, Curry County is near the range of metrics to allow for us to open in-person, however, the state-level rates are not at this point in time. Learn more about what this means on our Fall Planning webpage: https://www.brookings.k12.or.us/apps/pages/2020fallplanning

At this time, BHSD is continuing its planning process for in-person instruction as well as distance education and online learning, although it more likely now that school will start with distance and online only. As new information and updates become available, we will continue to share with our school families. All current families should be receiving a call from their school office this week. If you miss your call or you are new or returning to the district this fall we encourage you to call the school district or specific school office to share your learning path preference and accommodation needs for fall.
