Bruins Football Association Flag Football Finishes Off Another Season

Another exciting season of Flag Football came to an end earlier in the week with big match-ups highlighting competition earlier in the season, and as the summer sun sets on another Bruins Football Association Flag Football program, another group has completed a season of flag football, and by the smiles on everyone’s faces, it was another successful season.

As we close out the 2023 season, and as we have throughout the season, second year coach Kris Haley shared his experience coaching the Seahawks in the 4th and 5th grade division.

Coach Haley, the owner of Roadrunner Powersports in Harbor, told the Compass “I signed up last year at the last minute to be a coach and I really enjoyed it so signed up again this year, it’s just a fun environment to be a part of.”

We asked Coach Haley what has surprised him the most coaching these past 2 years, “They all work together and encourage each other” he said, “Some of the kids are playing in a team setting for the first time, and seeing the kids who have been playing longer really encourage the newer players, I love seeing the support they give each other.”

The Cowboys Chase Bauer making the catch for a touchdown.

“When one of the kids makes a play or a run that really challenged them, they get so excited and are almost genuinely, they’re so surprised that they did it. They’re so proud of themselves and their teammates are proud of them, it’s my favorite part of doing this”

Tytan Cooke going deep for the Seahawks.

“They’re really fun kids to be around.” Coach Haley said, “They joke around with each other and with me and it’s just a fun to be a part of. I want them to remember that it’s important to have fun when you’re playing” he continued, “and that we can work hard but still have fun.” – Coach Kris Haley

To close, “A huge Thank You to the coaches,” Coach Bavaro said, “and all the groups involved for that matter, who have done a great job of providing another summer of organized activity for our youth, and to Terry Hayes who did an excellent job managing the program for us this year. Our number one goal has always been to provide a fun, multiple entry points system to introduce young athletes into the game of football, and we hope to see even more kids in the program next year.”
