Bruins Take Two Against Lakeview in Tuesday Double-Header

The 9-5 Bruin boys baseball team hosted their last home stand of the 2023/24 year, hosting the 10-4 Lakeview Honkers on a sunny but blustery Tuesday afternoon.

Bruin boys head coach Keith Wallen sent senior right handed pitcher Austin Dietrich to the mound for the first game of the double-header who face five batters in the first half of the first inning, holding the Honkers to just one run. The Bruin bats would answer in their half of the first, scoring two runs.

Senior Ethan Orman, #22, with the hit, also pitched the Bruins to a win in the second game of the double header.

Dietrich would go on to keep the Honkers off the basepaths sitting the next six batters he faced down in order through the next two innings of play, as the Bruin offense added another run in the second to take a 3-1 lead into the fourth inning.

The Honkers would continue to struggle with Dietrich on the mound as he continued to keep Lakeview bats quiet through the fifth inning  as the Bruins worked another run across the plate in the fourth inning before finiishing off the Honkers with one more run in their half of the sixth to take the 5-1 win in opener.

Senior left hander Ethan Orman was on the hill to start the second game of the afternoon jumping on the Honker offense early holding the Honkers scoreless after facing seven batters through the second inning, but the Bruin bats struggled early as the game went inot the third inning scoreless going into the third.

Orman continued to keep Honker bats quiet through the fourth after facing another eight batters. But the Bruin offense would not get a runner across the plate until the fourth, scoring their only run on a Lincoln Rosenberg homerun to left field.

Lincoln Rosenberg, #7, making the play in center field, also had the Bruins only run in the second game, off of a solo homerun in the fourth.

The Bruins would go on to keep the Honkers scoreless in the later innings to go on to take the 1-0 win before going on the road to end their season.

The Bruins will be on the road today, Thursday, traveling to Glide to take on the 7-9 Wildcats with the first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.
