Juveniles Involved in Fiery Crash

On Saturday, May 12th, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Curry General Hospital reporting two juvenile females were at the hospital with injuries from an unreported car crash. Deputies responded and spoke with the juveniles and determined that they had been involved in a car crash somewhere on a side road off of the Jerry’s Flat Agness Road and that there were another female and a male juvenile that had been in the vehicle with them when it crashed.

Deputies learned the identification of all four occupants of the vehicle and that all were accounted for and okay. During the investigation, the vehicle was located the next day about five miles south of Jerry’s Flat /Agness Road on the 3313 Road.

The vehicle belonging to Robert Stowe of Gold Beach was completely burned along with the surrounding vegetation and trees. Further investigation showed the driver only had an instruction permit and that inexperience, speed and alcohol may have been a contributing factor of the crash.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation and it is expected that citations will be issued and all information forwarded to the Curry County Juvenile Department. It is remarkable that no-one was seriously injured in the crash and that the fire that was caused by the crash didn’t evolve into a major forest fire.
