National Weather Service projects Chetco River to Crest

The National Weather Service is projecting the Chetco River to crest over 22 feet during the evening tonight and early morning hours tomorrow. The projection means that flooding is possible in low lying areas along the Chetco River such as near Social Security Bar and Rivers Edge RV Park. This event may be similar to flooding experienced in early 2012. In addition, high tide will occur at approximately 1:49 am and may exacerbate local flooding during that time-frame. Other area streams and creeks may also see local flooding overnight as this storm continues to provide copious amounts of heavy rain. Please exercise caution and plan accordingly.
