Three Consecutive Weeks of Fewer COVID-19 Cases

The state of Oregon saw it’s third straight week of COVID-19 cases with 121 fewer confirmed cases statewide.

Governor Kate Brown announced Friday that the counties of Hood River and Multnomah have succeeded in reducing the spread of COVID-19 sufficiently enough to be removed from the County Watch List reducing the total number of counties on the Watch List to six after no counties were added.

Multnomah County alone has 23% of the states 26,054 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 5,902 cases after adding 698 cases between Thursday August 13th and Wednesday August 26th. Multnomah County also has 27% of the states total deaths with 122 of Oregon’s 447 deaths.

The complete list of counties now on Governor Brown’s ‘County Watch List’ now include Baker, Jackson, Jefferson, Malheur, Morrow, and Umatilla. These 6 counties comprise just 21% of the states 26,054 cases and 16% of the states 447 deaths…, combined.

Again the 5 northern Oregon counties of Clackamas, Marion, Multnomah, Umatilla, and Washington, of which only Umatilla County is on Governor Brown’s ‘County Watch List’, continue to comprise 65% of all of the state of Oregon’s cases adding 1,094 cases in these counties alone in the past week reporting 17,822 of the states 26,054 total COVID-19 cases. These five northern counties also comprise 86% of the state’s deaths from COVID-19 reporting 387 of the 447 reported deaths.

Curry County reported that it now has 1 active case of COVID-19 while the county has reported testing 1,287 individuals, with 1,267 negative tests, with 19 recovered cases and 0 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, August 28th.

Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 7,124 individuals with 122 cases, no new positive cases were reported to Public Health, bringing the total amount of active cases to 14 with 3 hospitalizations and 1 death.

Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports testing 22,468 individuals with 368 total cases, 29 active cases, 335 recoveries, 21 hospitalizations and 4 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, August 28th.

Coos County to the north, reported testing 5,318 individuals with 5,234 negative tests, 110 total positive cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, with 21 recoveries and 0 deaths.

Josephine County reports testing 8,795 individuals with 8,666 negative results, 154 total positive cases of COVID-19 of which 94 are recovered cases, and 2 deaths.

Jackson County went into the week testing 24,246 individuals with 23,549 negative test results, with 776 total cases of COVID-19, 214 recovered cases and 2 deaths as of Friday August 28th.
