U.S. Coast Guard Air Crew Rescues Four from Estuary Near Charleston

On Friday evening, December, 29th, 3 children and 1 adult man were rescued by an air crew from U.S. Coast Guard Station North Bend, from a remote area in South Slough National Estuary, near Charleston, Oregon.

The father of the children called 911 and alerted Coos County Sheriff’s Office that they had become lost in the woods after sunset.

Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard quickly developed a plan to rescue the stranded individuals working with the Oregon Department of Emergency Management and at approximately 8:00pm, the four individuals were located, returned to the air station and transferred to local Emergency Medical Services.
