3 Arrested with Thousands of Dollars of Merchandise After Inter-State Shoplifting Spree

Grants Pass Police Officers responded to a report of interstate thieves Friday, November 3rd, at the Ross store located on NE Beacon Drive in Grants Pass.  

A crew of thieves hitting Ross stores along I-5 in California had been being followed by Corporate investigators with Ross and had made it to Oregon.  

3 individuals, identified as Juan Vargas, Jose Vargas, and Monica Velencia were contacted by Officers inside the store, and were found to have hundreds of dollars in merchandise hidden in oversized spandex undergarments on their persons.  

Upon further investigation, a vehicle nearby belonging to the group, was discovered to contain large trash bags with Ross merchandise from other stores.  

After itemizing all the recovered stolen goods, the value was over $10,000.00.  

The three were lodged at the Josephine County Jail for Organized Retail Theft, Theft in the First Degree, and Criminal Conspiracy.
