65 Pounds of Cocaine Seized in Traffic Stop

Oregon State Police took 65 lbs. of suspected cocaine off the streets Wednesday, March 24th.

A senior Trooper from the Central Point Area Command stopped a 2021 Ford Explorer just after 9:00am for following too close on northbound Interstate 5 near Ashland.

During the traffic stop, the Senior Trooper noticed signs of criminal activity and a consent search was conducted. The search of the vehicle revealed approximately 65 pounds of suspected cocaine in natural voids of the vehicle’s rear doors.

The driver, 52 year old identified as Gerardo Avila Soriano from South Gate, California. Mr. Avila Soriano was lodged at the Jackson County Jail for Unlawful Possession and Delivery of Cocaine.
