Just before 4:00 am on Saturday morning March 30th, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Curry General Hospital reporting there were two gunshot victims that had just arrived there. The information given was that twenty-year-old Austin Williams of Gold Beach and twenty-year-old Taylor Bright of Grants Pass had been at the Oak Flat Camp Ground in Agness, Or. when Williams was shot in his left arm and Bright was shot in his foot by twenty-two-year-old Glen Remy of Gold Beach. According to Williams, Remy left the campground and crashed his vehicle off the side of the Agness Road just a few miles west of Agness.
Dispatch contacted the Sheriff, Patrol Captain, Patrol Sergeant and several Deputies to respond. Deputies responded to Curry General while others responded to the Agness area. Deputies were advised while at the hospital that the gunshot wounds to both Williams and Bright were non-life threatening.
Deputies located Remy near his vehicle about ten miles west of Agness and took him into custody without incident. Remy’s vehicle was seized and later towed to a secure area where Deputies intended to apply for a search warrant to look for evidence of the crime. Deputies also went to the Oak Flat Camp Ground to investigate the scene and speak with any possible witnesses.
Remy was transported to the Curry County Jail and lodged. The Curry County District Attorney charged Remy with Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Assault in the Forth Degree x 2, Reckless Endangering Another Person x 2, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation to what led up to the event and additional charges may be added.
