Now midway through Spring sports programs, another outstanding Brookings-Harbor High School student athlete has been chosen Barron’s ‘Star Student Athlete’. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
Bruins girls varsity softball head coach Tony Baron has chosen senior Kami Koepnick, another two sport athlete who also participated on the girls varsity volleyball team for head coach Vanessa Nidiffer for three years.
Regularly starting at first base for coach Baron, she currently leads the team in nearly every positive statistical category, hitting .593 in league play, with 3 home runs, 34 RBI, and 23 runs while striking out only twice in twenty games.” coach Baron told the Compass.
While playing two varsity sports and volunteering for beach clean-up and at the Humane Society, Kami also manages a 3.8 cumulative GPA in multiple college level classes including, Language Arts IV, Health Occ/Medical Law & Ethics, Chemistry, Work Based Learning-Medical, Body Structure & Functions Science, and Economics.
Kami has been awarded and has accepted an academic scholarship to the Oregon Institute of Technology and will be participating in their pre-medical imaging program in hopes of becoming an ultrasound technician.
