According to a Saturday, July 6th press release from the Coos County Sheriff’s Department, after receiving a tip regarding two known controlled substances dealers in and beyond Coos County, deputies with the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team, observed one of the individuals leave the Motel 6 in Coos Bay and performed a warrant check, confirming an extraditable California warrant for possession, purchase, or sale of controlled substances.
The individual, identified as 35 year old Brandon McClure, was then witnessed by detectives crossing Highway 101 and engaging in a brief exchange with a suspected buyer before returning toward the motel.
The detective exited his unmarked patrol vehicle displaying his badge and ordered McClure to stop, announcing he was under arrest. McClure fled on a motorized scooter, leading to a brief pursuit. McClure was quickly apprehended and arrested for his outstanding warrant and felony eluding.

Based on narcotics K9 Katie alerting positively to McClure’s wallet, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant for Room 241 at the Motel 6 in Coos Bay. Inside, the search uncovered approximately 30 grams of suspected fentanyl, 3 grams of methamphetamine, $376 in cash, and evidence suggesting identity theft, which is under further investigation.
Officers detained Elisa Speaks, Nicklas Barnet, and 42 year old Jennifer Johnson inside the room without incident. McClure and Johnson were then transported to Coos County Jail and charged with distribution, manufacture, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl. McClure was later extradited to California on his outstanding warrant.
