A strong earthquake struck off the east coast of Russia Tuesday just before 4:30pm PDT.
The 8.7 magnitude quake struck just over 11 miles deep late Tuesday afternoon, and was immediately followed by multiple aftershocks, two of which measured 6.9 and 6.3 on the Richter Scale.
Tsunami warnings were immediately issued for the Aleutian Islands, with a Tsunami Advisory for South Alaska and the Alaskan Peninsula and Tsunami watches for the entire west coast including British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California.
