On Sunday morning, the 97-foot commercial fishing vessel Defiant reported the fishing vessel adrift about 95 miles west of Newport with three mariners aboard, and by Sunday evening, aircrews had delivered fresh water, a radio, and a de-watering pump.

On Tuesday, August 5th, the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Alder based out of San Francisco, completed the transit to the Destiny, 95 miles west of Newport and establishes a tow, bringing the 97-foot vessel 80 miles closer to shore.

The Coast Guard Cutter Alder was then met by the 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew from Station Yaquina Bay Wednesday, taking over the tow and safely escorting the Defiant and her crew into Newport.
