Josephine County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence after receiving a welfare check request Monday morning, August 11th, for a family at an address on Hussey Lane, in the Pickett Creek area northeast of Grants Pass after it was reported an adult female at the residence had uncharacteristically not shown up for work on Monday, August 11th.
Both the Oregon State Police and Josephine County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the address and after observing suspicious conditions around the premises, entered the residence to check the welfare of the occupants.

Upon entry, law enforcement discovered five persons who appeared to have been killed by a firearm. The deceased victims, 42 year old Hannah Marie Behee, an 11 year old male juvenile, a 9 year old male juvenile, and a 7 year old female juvenile, were discovered in the residence with gunshot wounds.
The deceased adult male, 40 year old Chad Scott Behee, is believed to be the suspect in a murder-suicide incident.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has requested the Oregon State Police lead the investigation with the assistance of the Grants Pass Police Department.
