And so it begins, another school year, a week in progress, and with that, another school year of BHHS sports has begun.
BHHS varsity head coach Vanessa Nidiffer and the Bruin girls varsity volleyball team hosted the Del Norte Lady Warriors Tuesday evening, in a non-league preseason match that has become a bit of an annual Hwy. 101 rivalry.

In the first set the Bruin girls battled with the Lady Warriors as both teams were even at 9-9 early in the match, however, the Lady Warriors took control and extended a considerable lead before taking the first match 10-25.

The Bruin girls took an early 10-6 lead in the second match before the Lady Warriors would fight back to even the score at 14-14 on there way to putting together another 10 points to take the third match 14-25.

In the third set, the Lady Warriors jumped out early, attacking the Bruin girls to take an early 4-10 lead. The Bruin girls would rally to put up 17 points, but the Lady Warriors would get the match and the game win in straight sets.

“I thought the team battled with Del Norte,” head coach Vanessa Nidiffer said after the game, “and it was a great chance for us to get an idea of some things we need to work on moving forward.”
The Bruin girls will host the second half of the Hwy. 101 rivalry taking on the Gold Beach Lady Panthers at home Thursday evening at 6:00pm.
