Very early Tuesday morning, October 7th, multiple agencies, including units from North Bend and North Bay Fire departments, Coos Bay Fire and Charleston Fire departments responded to reports of the Hauser Fire Station, north of Coos Bay, being fully involved in flames at approximately 1:00am.

Fire crews initially struggled to gain access to the structure due to the building’s metal construction, however, North Bend Fire was able to cut the apparatus bay doors and crews were able to contain the fire.

The early morning blaze destroyed fire station and apparatus, including, very specialized equipment for dune rescues.
Following recommendations from emergency personnel, North Bay Elementary School was closed Tuesday, October 7th, out of an abundance of caution due to smoke and fumes related to the fire.

No one was at the station at the time of the incident and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
