Coffenberry Too Much for Azalea Bruin Football

Azalea Middle School football was home Wednesday evening, hosting the Coffenberry Hornets who made the trip to Brookings from Myrtle Creek.

The Hornets received the kick to open play and immediately put together a long sustained 65 yard, 5:30 drive to start the scoring, giving Coffenberry a first quarter 0-7 lead.

Quarterback, Mateo Chadwick. #11, hitting the deep pass.

Turn overs would plague the Azalea Bruins, and the Hornets would try to capitalize on a Azalea Bruin fumble, driving down to the ten yard line only to be turned away by a determined Azalea Bruin defense.

Timmy George, #28, looks on as #63, Jackson Ferris makes the stop.

However, another Azalea Bruin would turn over would give the Hornets field position deep in Bruins territory, and this time Coffenberry would not miss the opportunity driving into the endone to extend the score to 0-13 as the first half came to an end.

Beckham Katavich, #80, using the stiff-arm for more yards.

Azalea made adjustments at the half and started the second half with the ball. Both teams would pick up the defense in the third quarter, as neither team could find the endzone after sustaining long drives through out the third quarter.

Brenner Thorson, #23, squaring up to make the tackle.

But the fourth quarter would again see turnovers and penalties cost the Azalea Bruins, killing drives after long sustained possessions and scoring opportunities.

#28, Timmy George, making the catch for the long gain.

Coffenberry would find the endzone twice in the fourth quarter, taking home the 0-25 win.

Curren Christensen, #8, turning the corner for extra yards.

The Azalea Bruins will be on the road next Wednesday, traveling to Gold Beach.
