Bruin freshman guard Tucker Delay, set an Oregon 3A OSAA record Monday evening in contest with the Illinois Valley Cougars.

Delay, #23, has put a jolt into the Bruin varsity boys basketball team, leading the team in scoring with 331 points to date, driving the Bruins to an early 10-4 record.

On Monday night, the Bruins hosted the Illinois Valley Cougars in which Delay would hit five 3 point shots in the first quarter alone. Delay would then hit four shots for 8 points in both the second and third quarters, however, the Bruins would find themselves trailing going into the fourth period.

In the fourth, Delay hit two more 3 point shots, hit three baskets in the paint, and went 4 for 7 from the line, scoring 16 points in the fourth period alone, in a Bruin come from behind win setting an Oregon OSAA 3A record 47 points, the most points scored in a single game by a freshman.

“His work ethic is amazing. He has stepped into a leadership role and pushing, competing, and driving the team on every drill. He is outstanding and we are very lucky to have him.” coach Luke Beaman told the Wild Coast Compass.

Tucker Delay has had seven 3 pointers in two separate games, hitting 55 so far this season. The 3A record 47 points in one game by a freshman has led to a team leading 331 total points with Delay hitting shots from deep as well as driving the lane in the paint.
