The Curry County Board of Commissioners, Board Chair Jay Trost, Vice Chair, Patrick Hollinger and Commissioner Lynn Coker, announced on Tuesday that efforts by the Board of Commissioners to obtain funding for critical jail improvements have been successful.

On Tuesday, January 20th, Curry County was notified that both the Senate and House of Representatives had passed a bill containing $1,031,000 to fund improvements and updates to the Curry County Jail.
Planned facility-wide improvements include upgrades to lighting, plumbing, door locking systems, intercom and camera systems, as well as a comprehensive overhaul of jail cells.
This funding will allow the Curry County Jail to increase its operational efficiencies and create a more secure environment for everyone involved.
The push to secure this funding began in 2023 and was carried forward through by the current Board of Commissioners and the Director of County Operations and the County’s contracted lobbyist Accelerate Strategies, made it possible for the Jail infrastructure needs to be brought forward for consideration by Representative Val Hoyle and U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden.
