A call was received by the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office Friday morning, January 23rd, regarding reports of a man who had swam out into the ocean from South Beach in Crescent City, and disappeared into the water.
Deputies arrived on scene and requested assistance from multiple local agencies including the US Coast Guard, Del Norte County Search and Rescue, Gasquet Fire, Smith River Fire, Yurok Tribe, California State Parks, Juan Santillan, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, to assist in the search.
The reporting party described him as mid to late 30s, approximately 6′, 180, with a slight muscular build, sandy blonde or reddish shoulder length hair, and no noticeable tattoos.
