On Thursday morning, January 22nd, an air crew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay was dispatched to reports of an injured mariner on a commercial fishing vessel off the coast south of Crescent City.

The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew left the air station just after 8:00am Thursday morning to reports that a mariner had suffered an eye injury, locating the commercial fishing vessel Viking, a short time later, approximately 10 miles south of Crescent City.

After the rescue swimmer was lowered to vessel, the mariners injury was stabilized and prepared for the medevac procedure and a basket hoist was conducted, loading the injured mariner into the helicopter before being transported to awaiting emergency medical service personnel at Air Station Humboldt Bay.
