The Bruin boys were home Friday evening hosting the 0-5 Rogue River Chieftains with both teams looking to get in the win column after tough losses earlier in the week.

Bruin boys head coach Luke Beaman started with pressure on the Chieftain ball handler to keep the Rogue River offense in front of them as both teams fought to establish control early with the Bruins trailing 7-8 midway through the first period. But Rogue River took advantage of their scoring opportunities hitting from both the outside as well as in the key to lead 12-16 after the first period.

But the Bruins defense would slow the Chieftain offense after putting up 16 points in the first, holding them to just one point while putting up 11 points to take a 23-17 lead midway through the period. The Bruins would continue to capitalize on Rogue River miscues adding 6 more points to take a 29-26 lead into the locker room at the half.

Going into the third period, the Bruin defense intensified, pressing the Chieftains creating more Rogue River turnovers that would lead to a 36-29 lead half way through the third before adding 8 more points while holding Rogue River to just 5 points to establish a ten point 44-34 lead after three.

The Bruin boys continued to roll into the fourth period as the Chieftains fought to close the gap and get within range to collect the win, but a determined Bruin boys team weathered the storm of Rogue River’s physical defensive play with a 24 point fourth period to secure the 68-51 Bruin win.

The Bruin boys will be on the road Tuesday, traveling to Medford to challenge the now 4-3 Lakeview Honkers with tip-off scheduled for 7:00pm.
