Attempted Kidnapping in Cave Junction

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office received a report just before noon on Wednesday, August 26th, of a possible kidnapping attempt. The incident took place near Redwood Hwy. 199 and Hanby Lane in Cave Junction.

The reporting party imparted information that an adult male attempted to take a juvenile from a wooded area where the juvenile and other children were playing. There were no injuries as the child was able to get away from the suspect and then ran home to report the incident.

The suspect is identified as a white male in his 30’s with a thin build, a shaved head, and a clean shaven face. The suspect also has a tattoo of a skull on his right forearm and was seen leaving the area on red and white golf with a canopy wearing a dark shirt, sunglasses, torn blue jeans, sneakers and a white and blue baseball cap.

After an extensive search of the area, no suspects were located. The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging anyone with information regarding this incident or the suspect as described, to contact the Josephine Sheriff’s Office at 541-474-5123.
