On Thursday July 16th, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports regarding a body in the Chetco River between the Chetco Bridge and the opening to the port of Harbor just before 2:30pm.
The Oregon State Police and Curry County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene and requested the U.S. Coast Guard sector Chetco River to assist with the search in the reported area.
U.S. Coast Guard personnel located and recovered the body of an older gentleman just off the crabbing docks which was subsequently released to Redwood Memorial.
The matter is currently under investigation.
